We’re Here for You
What will my first session be like?
Your first session is an introduction for both of us to get to know one another, establish our boundaries for treatment (what you do and don't like touched), review your intake form, and probe more in depth into why you came to work with me. What seems obvious to you in terms of symptoms is not so obvious to me. The site of pain or injury might not be exactly where you are feeling it, so I am going to ask questions to have a more precise idea of where I am going with the treatment. You have time to ask me questions. If your condition is complex, you will probably spend up to thirty minutes in the initial evaluation and sixty minutes receiving treatment. Those times can vary. When you return for followup to our agreed treatment plan, there will be a briefer check in to see how you are doing and you will receive mostly hands on work for the ninety minutes of your session. The treatment methods will be determined based on how you are presenting and often are different than what you might perceive you need initially. I like to let your body do the talking when it comes to deciding what methods are essential during the session. Many of the massage and manual therapy techniques I utilize require undressing and lying on the table under a professionally draped sheet and blanket. In cooler weather, I warm the table for you and provide heat therapy unless it is contraindicated for your condition. Since I work from a wholistic and integrated traditional and modern medical research perspective, sometimes called a BioPsychoSocial ,
